St. Vincent February 17 2018
The night was February 17th, 2018. The
Tabernacle was the venue for the evening that St. Vincent aka Annie Clark came
to town. Ms. Clark chose her aunt and uncle to open the show for her. The
couple put on short, but soulful performance. From this performance, I can
confirm that the guitar playing chops run deep within the Clark family. Her
uncle shredded a guitar version of Man in the Mirror that would make the King
of Pop smile from his resting place.
The show was
full of color. Clark played a multitude of different guitars by herself in
front of a multitude of backdrops. Although none of the backdrops, lights or
any of the other shit mattered. If you were in that building Annie Clark and
her guitar captivated you at that moment. While I was exiting the building I
knew that I would miss the moments that I had just experienced.
St.
Vincent has a range from electro-pop; indie rock and the coffee house rock. Those
slow jams will create and bring back feelings misery, love, and anguish. The
show was a roller coaster. From the highs of Sugarboy a high-energy dance track
all the way to the honesty and truth of Slow Disco that arouse the emotion of getting left out on the dance floor. St. Vincent’s catalog evokes every
emotion, and I will cherish the few moments I was fortunate enough to see her.
